Jorge Luis Borges is one of the most famous writers of the 20th century, having largely shaped the face of modern literature. In his essay on Borges's influence, Umberto Eco articulates the fundamental principle of the great Argentine's works: 'Books talk to each other.' Borges himself wrote: 'Some people are proud of every book they write; I am proud of every book I read.' In numerous interviews, Borges described himself not so much as a writer as an attentive, appreciative reader. This edition includes two well-known collections of Borges's literary reflections: 'Discussion' and 'New Investigations' in their entirety, as well as four lectures on tango given by Borges in 1965 in Buenos Aires.
