'Palm Sunday' is a striking, whimsical, and masterful mosaic of episodes, both funny and sad, which Vonnegut himself called 'an autobiographical collage.' Childhood, adolescence, war, captivity, the joys of marriage and fatherhood, catastrophe, and a new beginning—memories that the writer shuffles like a deck of cards, effortlessly and almost casually. And against the backdrop of all these vignettes from his life, the 'damned question' that tormented Vonnegut his entire life clearly emerges: what saves a person from loneliness and gives meaning to life?
