She Who Runs on the Waves (Begushchaya po Volnam)

A remarkable Russian writer, dreamer, and romantic, Grin created a special world in his works, a fairytale land, dangerous and enticing, full of bright colors, warmth, and sun. This country was later named Greenland: the water there “shines for three arshins, and fish fly through the air like jackdaws,” and the sky, “under which you want to laugh from dawn to dusk.” “When the days begin to gather dust and the colors fade, I take up Grin. I open him to any page,” wrote Daniil Granin. “Like when you wipe the windows in the house in the spring. Everything becomes light, bright, everything is mysteriously exciting again, like in childhood.”
This collection includes the novel “Running on the Waves,” as well as short stories written at different times in his life.
