The Iliad (Iliada)

None of the numerous literary works of antiquity has exerted such a powerful influence on the subsequent development of world culture as Homer's immortal poems, the Iliad and the Odyssey. Centuries have passed, yet the allure of the poems of the legendary epic poet of Ancient Greece remains inexorable. The appeal of Homer's poems lies not only in the fact that their author introduces us to a world separated from modernity by decades of time, yet remarkably real thanks to the poet's genius, who preserved in his poems the pulse of contemporary life. Homer's immortality lies in the fact that his brilliant works contain inexhaustible reserves of universal, enduring values—reason, goodness, and beauty. This edition offers readers the Iliad in the translation of N. I. Gnedich, who succeeded in conveying the 'simplicity, strength, and grave tranquility' of Homer's language.
