English physician and writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is known worldwide as an unrivaled master of the detective genre, author of numerous works featuring the brilliant detective Sherlock Holmes and his faithful friend Dr. Watson. Classic translations of these stories and novels, produced long ago and by numerous translators, suffer from well-known shortcomings: discrepancies, omissions, and outright errors.
