'The Stranger' is the debut work of a young writer, a kind of creative manifesto. The concept of absolute freedom is the main tenet of this manifesto. The hero of this novella is on trial for a murder he committed for the stupidest of all possible reasons. And this is the truth that the hero is not afraid to throw in the faces of his judges — to go against everything, to forget about all conventions, and to die for the sake of his beliefs.
