In the history of the world novel, F. M. Dostoevsky occupies one of the first places. His work enriched the experience of artistic self-knowledge of mankind. He is the author of the famous novels 'Crime and Punishment', 'The Insulted and Humiliated', 'The Idiot', 'The Brothers Karamazov', 'The Gambler' ...
This edition presents Dostoevsky's early stories: 'White Nights' (1848) and 'Netochka Nezvanova' (1849-1860). If the first work (a novel about lovers) raises the problem of personal alienation, which is so timely today, then the second asks the question: is human nature inherently cruel.
It is safe to say that 'White Nights' and 'Netochka Nezvanova' are Dostoevsky's most poetic works. The book concludes with an essay by I. Annensky on Dostoevsky.
