The Pigeon. Three Stories and a Reflection. The Double Bass (Golubka)

Patrick Süskind is among the most popular writers of the 20th century. However, he is often considered the author of only one novel, 'Perfume.' This opinion is undoubtedly erroneous, as this collection easily confirms. Collected under a single cover are the novella 'The Dove' ('a small masterpiece in prose'), four engaging short stories, and the play 'Double Bass,' Süskind's first work to explore the theme of the 'little' man. Here, the author reveals himself as a brilliant psychologist, a mystifier, a man endowed with a subtle sense of humor and rare imagination.
