'Solo on an Underwood. Solo on an IBM'—the notebooks of Sergei Dovlatov—witty, aphoristic, and merciless notes on the literary life of Leningrad and émigré New York. Anecdotes, observations, and dialogues—the quintessence of Dovlatov's style, where every joke conceals a precise observation about human nature.
