'One Story' is two stories. The first is that of Silvano Landi, a writer who, on the threshold of his fiftieth birthday, discovers that his life has fallen apart. The second is the story of his great-grandfather Mauro, a soldier in the trenches of the First World War. Under the same skies, magnificent and merciless, Gpi unfolds a story of beauty and fragility, of human tears and hope.
A story of falling into an abyss and of rising from it every time, against all odds.
Gpi (Gian-Alfonso Pacinotti) was born in Pisa in 1963. His graphic novels have won numerous awards, including prizes at the comics festivals in Angoulême, Lucca, and Erlangen. Published in 2013, 'One Story' was the first graphic novel to be shortlisted for Italy's premier literary prize, the Strega, sparking heated debate about the boundaries of literature.
