At the insistence of her parents, eighteen-year-old Ever Wang travels from Ohio to Taipei to attend a youth camp where Chinese Americans learn the language and culture of their ancestors. Raised under strict rules, the girl senses freedom and, instead of calligraphy and medicine lessons, begins to explore a new, forbidden side of life. Dancing until the morning, alcohol, boys – Ever is determined to break every rule set by her mother and father.
But the fun can't last forever, and she'll have to decide how she sees her future and try to understand why her parents set such strict boundaries and whether they were so wrong.
