When psychiatrist Oskar B. Markov goes to the Alexanderplatz station to file a complaint against someone who challenged him to a duel, the police regard it as a bad joke. After all, in modern Berlin, such 'cultural practices' of dispute resolution have long been replaced by more civilized methods.
