Confessions of a Hooligan (Ispoved Khuligana)

“...The history of Yesenin is the history of delusions. <...> And yet, beyond all the delusions and all the falls in Yesenin’s life, there remains something that deeply attracts us to him. As if through all these delusions runs some enormous, precious truth. <...> What is beautiful and noble about Yesenin is that he was infinitely truthful in his work and before his conscience, that he saw everything through to the end, that he was not afraid to acknowledge his mistakes, taking upon himself what others tempted him to do—and was willing to pay a terrible price for everything...” (Vladislav Khodasevich).
This collection includes all of Yesenin’s most famous poems, as well as his narrative poems “Pugachev,” “Anna Snegina,” and “The Black Man.” The appendix contains V. Khodasevich’s essay “Yesenin.”
