Adelia is fourteen years old. She and her father ended up in a displaced persons center in a foreign country. We don't know the details, but she fled war, so she's under extreme stress: not only are the understandable difficulties for her age, but she also suffers from severe psychological trauma and lives in a strange, unfamiliar environment. Life in the refugee center is extremely difficult: Adelia's classmates are insensitive and sometimes cruel, and she tries to cope with the difficulties on her own, but it's impossible. When her class is assigned to make a film as an extracurricular assignment, Adelia gradually gets to know her classmates better and simultaneously gains a better understanding of herself. This helps her overcome a crisis of mistrust in others and her own trauma. A psychological story about a teenage girl who finds herself in a displaced persons center and experiences stress due to difficulties adapting to a foreign country and among her classmates. The book doesn't specify a location. All characters are of no nationality. The author is a professional psychologist working with trauma. An inspiring story of overcoming the stress that arises in new, unfamiliar conditions. About the author: Saniya Bikkina is a psychologist who worked in a refugee camp for a year and a half. Working in her field, she seeks an answer to the question: how to cope with difficult times and retain the right to happiness no matter what. In this book, she collects some of her reflections on this topic. Literary Competition: The Belaya Vorona literary competition has been held since 2020. Each year, we offer authors writing for children a new topic, and then select the best from several hundred submitted manuscripts. We believe that the literary competition will allow aspiring authors whose works meet our expectations of children's literature to find their audience.
