Odessa Stories (Odesskie Rasskazy)

Isaac Babel was a remarkable Russian short story writer of the first half of the 20th century, the author of the poignant 'Red Cavalry' and the immortal 'Odessa Stories,' and the literary father of the celebrated Benya Krik. His prose is characterized by vibrant colors, metaphorical richness, and vivid depictions of character and passion. This collection includes I. Babel's major short stories. For the first time, an attempt was made to create 'St. Petersburg' and 'rural' cycles, alongside the 'Odessa' cycle, based on the author's instructions. The publication includes an article and commentary.
